A couple of days ago I saw some posters criticizing Stallman and calling him "crazy". I hope those same posters see your writing, because I'm pretty sure problems like these are exactly what Stallman has been predicting (and fighting) for q

And there are occasionally similar articles where the author informs us all that AdBlock and NoScript are literally destroying the internet. And that misguided blogger this week who wants Apple to force users to accept push notifications fr

A small one, sure. There's already a CPU heatsink and fan in there. If they combined them it might be even smaller. Or maybe you are right and there just isn't the space to support it.

That's right, don't let their pedantry get you down. It was an interesting post, thank you for sharing it.

Every time I see one of these things it is fully exciting. Then the actual product gets bogged down in patent bullshit and we never see it. What happened to the CPU heatsink where the whole damn thing rotated? If the fan in my laptop was

I agree with you but I doubt very much that Microsoft does. Requiring it to have a persistent connection and offloading core parts of the game to the cloud is going to be delightful for their DRM team.

It's also like the common advice that you should watch carefully how your date interacts with the waitstaff. It's too bad Americans can understand the one but not the other.

Good point. I think you half misunderstood; their certificate should be replaceable so that you disallow third-party software from developers in their developer program and allow it from your company only or vendor A only. Obviously one wou

Hey! I actually had a try on your site few months ago and it didn't pan out for me. I must not have an attractive enough skillset for the businesses browsing.

What I don't like about Gatekeeper is that there is no way to revoke Apple's cert and replace it with another. Not that that would protect the activist in question, but it would certainly make a company machine secure against this kind of a

You are correct. I should have simply said I don't think this scanning is appropriate.

I would prefer they put their efforts into making a secure operating system in the first place instead of trying to nanny their users in such a creepy fashion.

Takes public data, simple heuristics, and some insights and produces great results. Very very clever. That was well worth the short read.

I like the simplicity of the big operators and the ideas on parallelism they were considering. What a huge disappointment that they aren't going to continue work on it.

1. Google is not obliged to create an app for any platform. Regardless of user count. WTF. 2. Microsoft is obliged to follow the ToS on websites they are pulling data from. Regardless of user count. I'd love to see Google forced to admit wh

They're abusing the patent system to extort money from Android device manufacturers and they have to gall to completely ignore requirements in a ToS. I'm looking forward to the day when Microsoft is completely irrelevant. They should just s

This sounds interesting! Have you published anything more substantial on it? I yearn for the day when I can have a Plan 9-ish resource sharing and file system connecting my personal computer to my cloud computers.

Turing completeness is maybe not desirable... look at what happened when YAML was allowed to create objects of any class it liked. I like your declarative language idea very much, though. As long as it cannot execute arbitrary code.

You should be able to to run code downloaded as part of IAP also. But this is one of the major things I wish they would change, and also one of the major reasons I'll be switching to Android.

Ah. I agree with your first point, it's ineffectual. But my hope would be that an app can help people boycott more effectively (who would guess that bottled waters are sold by Coke and Pepsi?) and have a greater total effect. I don't think

I'd like a red X over people that discuss, say, the political opinions of celebrities. Also I think avoiding products if you disagree with the company owners is laudable and I don't really get why you are responding with such snark.
