So again, go ahead and do your bit first. Of course you won't because you don't want to cause yourself even a minor inconvenience.

I call bullshit on the claim that you can transfer as much energy through optical fiber as through a copper wire of the same width. I'm pretty sure they calculate the power transmitted taking into account only the 'active' pa

OK, you first. Stop buying stuff made in China, that is pretty much all the stuff apart from some food.

Container ships are attacked for ransom, not for the cargo. An owner of a small fishing vessel will not pay up

Of course he is right. It's similar story to the early scientists whom all were independently wealthy. And your claim about 'thousands and thousands of successful authors' is just ridiculous when an average person doesn'

You clearly don't know what you are talking about. Water steam is a perfect medium for turbines because of its favorable thermodynamic properties, mainly high specific heat allowing water steam to absorb large amount of thermal energy.

How do you think Huawei managed to produce 7nm processors without Western EUV tools lately? Get on with the times instead of living in the past

They are the representation of the _successful_ authors, though. Because they are the cannon now. So the OP is right.

But realistically it doesn't mean that an average Porsche owner does nothing but speeding on Autobahns. Similarly lots of people in the US drive pickups but only a tiny portion of them actually use them the way they were meant to be us

How is the registry going to make that administration any easier? The registry is its own micro cosmos, doesn't matter if some setting is in an INI file somewhere on the filesystem or somewhere in the registry

That's not true at all. If any other liquids were more useful they would have been used long time ago, even in places where the cost is not of primary concern, such as nuclear submarines.

Nuclear fusion is around corner, too.

I assume you would be fine with the US assets being frozen by the rest of the world for unprovoked aggression on Iraq?

As if the ASML machines were all that is needed for making cutting edge semiconductors. Why TSMC is in Taiwan and not in Denmark then?

by pi-e-sigma 3y ago
It doesn't matter if it was ethically justified or not. The fact remains that the assets were frozen by the US government which runs contrary to the notion that the US allows unrestricted capital movement. Today it's Russians&#x27
318.
by pi-e-sigma 3y ago
That is simply not true. The US has a complex capital controls laws in place, mostly disguised as anti-money laundering rules.
319.
by pi-e-sigma 3y ago
So exactly the same as in the US? For instance the Russians got their assets frozen by a whim of the US government

'Toughness' of the law is defined by how harsh it is on the people, not the state apparatus.

That's actually used to be the norm in Europe, too. Various forms of corporal punishment for smaller offences and death for major ones. Prisons where people would be kept for years at a time are a fairly recent development of XIX centu

Better question: would you rather let him rot in prison or be his next victim? Because in all these discussions about rehabilitation somehow we never talk about victims of the re-offenders

The reason why Javascript became popular is because it has been the only 'application' language available in all the browsers.

AIX kernel has an inode cache, stat cache and directory name caches though. There's procfiles command to show inodes open by a given process and istat command that can link the i-nodes back to the file names. There is also available ls
