I don't think that's what they meant -- they're describing a series of three imaginary phone calls. (I did misread it that way at first, though.)

Thrive? No. GH has been getting very noticeably worse. The uptime is terrible now and the UI is a lot flakier.

Hard to know with this nondeterministic shit.

Ingenuous question. You know they have a bad reputation. The main problem with pit bulls, AIUI, is that they can be aggressive towards other dogs. Also, assholes buy them (due to their reputation) and then encourage aggressive behavior. I&#

I don't think it depends. Mining practices can be bad even if the minerals are used for a purpose that we judge as good. Those can coexist (in tension, which is where we end up thinking about tradeoffs).

The cobalt thing is apparently misinformation. You've been misled. Technology Connections did a great video that goes into this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtQ9nt2ZeGM

Firefox for me as well. It's dodgy on some pages, but on larger PRs it now breaks.

I don't know, it's nice that they finally broke native browser in-page search. That's a great feature for people who hate finding things.

Yeah, unclear what they mean. 1/3 the conversion rate, maybe?

It's funny that you're replying with a recommendation to use LLMs when the parent comment is about how a search engine worked just fine.

Zoom works fine for me on Ubuntu. Or at least, it's no more flaky than it is on Mac.

Pretty upsetting history along with the interesting engineering.

This particular grand structural project was never a good idea, as the video describes. So it might not be the best basis for comparison.

What's the context? I feel like there's at least three paragraphs of intro missing here.

« you are speeding up the rate at which you build the wrong thing » Yeah. I keep seeing this over and over with devs who use LLMs. It's painful to watch.

I've looked at the bill and it sure seems like it would apply to Linux. What's your case that it doesn't?

This doesn't meaningfully increase risk to the Debian project, which is already one of the most prominent Linux projects.

Well, that's not what the page describes. You'd have to train an LLM on everything except tldraw, then use that LLM for code generation.

For each project you want to rip off, you'd have to first train an entirely new LLM on all sources except for the target project. Prohibitively expensive.

Flagging this because 1) this was written by an LLM and 2) there's bad information in it, which means it wasn't reviewed particularly carefully by a human. This means the entire article is suspect as a result.

I've seen a variety of approaches used (I'm not usually the one doing the confronting) but I still haven't seen any shame, etc. Which is weird, because it's not like it's one monolithic group? But it's still wh
