It kind of sounds like the "censoring" (practically lobotomization) is not intentional, here -- that it's essentially a compression artifact of the interaction with ChatGPT's refusals. Does that make sense?

Bear in mind that most residential roofs (of any sort) only last 10-20 years anyhow.

That sounds like a big waste of money (I don't think the mixing is even close to 5%) and also just more trouble for the sewage processing plants (which rely on bacteria to clean the sewage!)

To expand on this: It is extremely common for stormwater and sewage systems to be connected in such a way that a stronger than usual rainstorm causes unprocessed ("raw") sewage to be released into rivers and oceans. Climate chan

There is information, here, in the observations that all these "AI" demos contain blatant inaccuracies, with apparently no fact-checking having taken place. It's clear that these companies (Microsoft, Google, OpenAI) do not c

Unfortunately, most companies seem to have little compunction about exposing workers, consumers, or the environment to toxic materials. The use of lead is not in any way a blocker, for better or worse.

You're not going to eradicate fruit flies, since there's an intermittent stream of fresh introductions coming in on produce.

"these Sarracenia will not do anything against your fruit flies problem" seems directly contradicted by the blog post. Perhaps some unexpected environmental difference vs. your setup?

It's cool that they observed this, but I'm a little confused why this is seen as surprising. Unless there's oxidation at the fissure, metals seem like they should be able to glue back together pretty easily...

I'm currently in a conversation with hCaptcha's Support team that has gotten a bit Kafka-esque. Apparently, in order to sign up for the Accessibility option, you need to... fill out a captcha. Fantastic. Good job.

Hmm? I've not heard of any such thing. The main problem I've heard is that it's hard to come up with a test that will confirm or reject the hypothesis, let alone distinguish between the different variations.

There is also some fraction of the sea turtle population that goes in the "wrong direction" when navigating by the Earth's magnetic fields. I believe these individuals generally do not do very well. But... this natural variat

Honeybees are a eusocial organism, so there's not really "selfish" in here. They're all eating from the same stores of food.

Have you tried browser extensions like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/let-s-get-col... that adjust colors on the fly? I've had a couple of coworkers who benefited from it.

Fantastic book. I've re-read it a few times. It's also a great example of a book that's better than the movie. Way, way, way more depth and richness.

I don't think honey is usually pasteurized. It's usually heated in the process of producing a clear product with no grittiness, but that's not necessarily pasteurization. And botulism spores are incredibly durable.

You could just as well say that the cosmic ray pions are more likely to destroy right-handed DNA, which would have the opposite effect. And I don't think essential mutations were particularly hard to come by in the primordial soup. U

I would like to know whether they put trackers into any shoes that were in bad condition. I think that would be a much more damning result if those were sent to the wrong place.
