My understanding was that most feed endpoints just sent the whole thing back each time, or nothing (304 Not Modified, when conditional headers are included). This allows server and CDN caching of the response.

"Expose" was the key word here. A ton of sites already have feeds and just don't make them easy to get to. It's honestly not hard. It's also a category error to compare RSS and social aggregators.

Other reply has good advice. But beyond that I'd advise 1) specifically using the Atom format, which is more likely to display correctly, and 2) just include the latest 10 posts.

Absolutely. In a move-and-edit situation, git will sometimes infer a rename and sometimes not, based on your local version of git, your settings, and the details of the edit. If inference fails, you may have a harder time resolving merge co

Oh god, right. I largely switched to Kotlin in 2019 so I didn't get a lot of exposure to that, but your comment is bringing it all back...

This is about compile-time errors, not runtime errors.

It's sad to hear this is still an issue. For those who don't know, Clojure's error messages... aren't. They take the form of a stack trace from the compiler's internals, and that whole stack trace just gets barfed o

What you're describing has nothing to do with the number of servers and everything to do with the number of services . That's not scale, that's organizational sprawl.

Yeah, and this isn't a problem that interacts with scale. If you can patch 100 servers with an automated method you can patch 1,000,000 of them.

I know it's a tempting idea, but there are very good reasons we use wires suspended in air instead of burying them.

It's not going to cost 5-10x more to make the artistic design. And there are reasons beyond installation cost to avoid underground transmission -- maintenance is also way more expensive, and I believe it's also more fragile that w

Better approach: Point out that a sound-separated space is a reasonable accommodation. That should do the trick.

For the sabbath issue, I'd say make the "extra" day an additional day of rest. That way you never go more than 6 days without one. It matches the spirit of the issue, no? But you would certainly never convince everyone. :-)

Having seen MongoDB in use in an enterprise context, I may have to disagree with you about its fitness for purpose there. :-/
