What? You can get consistent output on local models. I can train large nets deterministically too (CUBLAS flags). What your saying isn't true in practice. Hell I can also go on the anthropic API right now and get verbatim static result

“non-deterministic machines“ Not correct. They are deterministic as long as a static seed is used.

Except Mātauranga by definition refers to “TRADITIONAL” knowledge. And as OP points out this isnt it. I too feel gaslit respectfully, reading your reply and the article.

Casinos, Financial Markets of all denominations, Horse Racing are also examples of pure play speculation. Speculation is often just a form of entertainment. Your moral equivocation is utterly irrelevant.

Speculation is a legitimate use case. There is substantially more to it than that but I will let you chew that over just to point out how blatantly incorrect your prior is.

I think you're drawing an artificial distinction here. Synthetic data generation is fundamentally an extension of augmentation. When OpenAI uses expert generated examples and curriculum based approaches, that's literally textbook

Um, augmentation (i.e. the generation of synthetic data) is a very very well known technique for improving learning. Also whats with the hate for MBA’s? Your comment is off kilter with the rules here.
