Feedback: The "Cancel anytime" as a feature seems out of place to me. Likewise for the Better than money back guarantee. It sets the wrong tone. I want this software to be so awesome it will be a privilege to be allowed to pay for it. Th

Too many ideas on the main page. I showed up looking for version control due to the HN link, but when I get there I see composer, compete, collaborate, "the producer in you", backup, studio support (?). I suggest focusing on one compellin

It's hard to tell if you're joking, but let's assume that you are not. Before thinking about design, you MUST fix every typo and grammatical error on your page. I counted nine errors, several of which are repeated over and over again.

I might have misunderstood the story, but if this happened to me today on my gear I would simply turn it all off, connect that half-erased hard disk to another machine, mount it, and pull all the data off. And only after a lot of googling

I own a few of these, and I've given more away as gifts. They are truly awesome, the toy equivalent of an iPhone in terms of beauty, perfection, fit and finish. It's nice to see the story behind the toy.

I know that people are judgmental, so I'm not surprised at all. I live here with my wife and two young boys, my job and my stack of O'Reilly books. Where are these vapid expats you speak of?

Well, I'm a Canadian expat in Dubai and I find it interesting that you're ill-disposed toward me though we've never met. I also wear Nike sneakers that were sewn by children working in some god-awful Pacific Asian export zone sweat shop. D

I've been here for over 6 years. These articles were amusing two years ago mostly due to the novelty of reading negative editorials about the city; you'd never get that from local papers here. That being said, there's nothing in the articl

That's what I was looking for. I was hoping the conversation would bring up some new approach or tech. This is the first I hear of CSS grid frameworks - I must look into them further. Edit: By the way, your site looks great to me. I was tr

But the definition of good UI is arbitrary. The folks who designed those old amber IBM terminals (that I still use at work) would have argued that: - Black background is easy on the eyes. - The flashing cursor draws your focus. - The amazin

Could someone please guide me towards a "startup funding 101" resource that explains what all this means? Ideally something that walks you through the process instead of just defining the vocabulary. I've searched but I haven't found anyt

Could you please clarify what you mean by "schemas"? My understanding is that a schema is an abstract definition of what your database fields/relations are. So that's too vague for me. Adding a customer_id field to every single table in th

Let's say you and I have a conversation that you find interesting, and you decide to post that to your journal. Would you bother getting my consent?

Yes, I had that feature enabled for a while but then removed it. In the case of "Chemistry", you'd end up with one RSS feed for hundreds of journals, maybe too wide a selection for most users. If I can generate enough interest in this site

I hadn't realized that the journal titles are not alphabetized within one letter's page (for example on the J page). EDIT: Fixed! If you visit the Journal of Avian Biology on the publisher's site, you only get those two items... http://w

Thanks! I would consider building a separate site for economics; it would get harder to find things if I go wider than science/engineering.

That's a small project of mine. I initially prefixed the submission title with "Show HN:", but it was renamed by a moderator. I'm sorry if I broke any rules, but I didn't find any guidance on the "Guidelines" page.

Strangely enough, they didn't name it anything. They don't really see it as a language, just a logic tool. From what I've seen, they've included GPL notices in most of their code (something unheard of in this industry). I'm guessing the w
