Not OP but most common reason I've heard is military age males with unresolved mandatory military service status.

Observationally, ad spamminess is inversely correlated with user intent and platform prestige. So I suspect it will take quite a while until it gets quite this bad for the premium platforms.

Was leetcode-style interviewing not a thing before that? Cracking the coding interview was published in 2008 so I would assume it was already quite established by then.

But this is missing exactly the gap which OP seems to have, which is going from a next token predictor (a language model in the classical sense) to an instruction finetuned, RLHF-ed and "harnessed" tool?

Not sure if you were maybe joking, but Seeing like a Bank is itself a pun on the famous book "Seeing like a state"! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seeing_Like_a_State So you've come almost full circle!

Exactly. The only exception to this are very rare sites like the one in Iceland where you can get close to a magma cell which has a much higher thermal gradient and possibly magma convection replenishing it.

Are you suggesting to basically harvest the thermal energy in the rock in a non-renewable fashion? I don't think that is very promising, the heat capacity of rock is not that huge. Back of the envelope calculation is drawing 1 GW from
