This is by far the best practical option! Life could be even better, but out of all options this one's great.

I think the lowest hanging fruit would be doing something (anything) to improve discovery of commands. I have great grokking abilities but terrible memorization skills, and I end up forgetting how to do what I want to do and maybe even have

It's extremely difficult nowadays to not fall into the temptation of letting a touchscreen be your child's plaything, but I firmly believe the damage they do in their early development stages is so drastic that even if everyone el

When I handle support problems like this where unplugged cables are likely, I make the user triple check everything is plugged in and bet a coffee on it. I've got it a couple times and I feel it makes people actually check their cables

I'd say a non-tech user has no idea what a server or cache is. I'd go with the word "backup" instead. Something like telling them that email is not backed up (online? where?) and if they delete it from their computer it

Sooner or later only people who wear shirts with big brand logos and constantly sing music from the Beatles will be the only ones not permanently recorded by the system. Hell, add a photo of a topless woman somewhere in the mix and bam, ins

These tools to me serve about two functions: writing regular expressions (and even then I'll tell it it's wrong once or twice before attempting to check the output), and saving me keystrokes for code I already know I'll write

This is why I work at night 80% of the time. It's absolutely not for everyone, it's not for every case, and the other 20% is coordination with daytime people, but the amount of productivity that comes from good uninterrupted hours

Well, that's exactly why I started using Aegis and swear by it, its backup capability. I keep it encrypted and backed up on two separate locations, so my phone can blow up safely and I'll still be able to 2FA under my own terms.

For a one-button option, I think I'd like something like a knob pointing to the current state (like a label saying ON), which when clicked would point to the other state (OFF). Both labels should be visible at all times. I think people

Regular meetings and calls can't go over twice a week period. For me, it's one of the biggest reasons for unproductivity. I've worked on a lot of projects and the amount of meetings was directly correlated to how much everyth

Took me a bit but they're replacing the string characters which are numbers with '0' and keeping the rest. So "3 102 45" becomes "0 000 00". Once I got it I thought it was brilliant.

A different point of view from a particular experience. In a country with rampant accelerating inflation, QR codes brought on by pandemic protocols were an unexpected saviour to the problem of having to mark up prices every week or month. T

Yeah, QR codes should come at a minimum with a WiFi password written on them exactly because of this. Even better would be not to even bother with all of that but it's easy for owners to fall for grifters selling "the future"

Most times, the answer to these types of questions on hobby projects is that the maker either knew more about Pies than Arduinos, or simply had a Pi lying around and not an Arduino in their home when inspiration struck, heh. I've certa

I think most times you don't need to make a simile but just re-state the issue as simply and explicit as possible. Like, they heavily advertised and sold a feature and then took it away after people were used to it. They had valid rea
