for many languages ctags doesn't come close unfortunately, for code exploration a good IDE is essential. Even if you don't use it for actual editing.

Markdown has outgrown Gruber's stewardship, "ambiguity is a feature" is not an opinion I can get behind. Calling this something other than markdown would be more confusing for end users. It is markdown, standardised.

Can't over emphasise the importance of a good IDE for this kind of thing, even if you're a hardened vim or emacs zealot. A tool like IntelliJ IDEA makes navigating new/large codebases a million times easier.

you're getting upset because you're making a terminology error, you say "digit" but mean "digits". A digit is either a finger, or the numbers 0-9, singular.
