Never seen edgedb before. Ill have a look, thanks for the tip. I usually find the docs always giving a super trivial example. Like a join. Joins are the bread and butter of database work, and design. You model your data and write queries th

It should be trivial to anyone needing it, and by extension anyone needing tools you usually install with homebrew. Unless this is the case you should not need PHP in the first place.

It suffers from the same issues all others orms do.

I mean universal in the sense that going from mysql to postgres is really not a big shift. I have worked mainly with postgres/mysql but i would imagine i would be up and running at full speed in days/a few weeks with mssql if i ev

Faster? LOL! Need speed? Use a compiled language. I rarely see a tool written in, say, python slow for what it was written for. From a user point 5ms vs 9ms in irrelevant. With PHP the speed should not be CPU related, but instead IO. PHP IO

There is zero arguments for having PHP bundled as default with the OS. It always ends up being an old PHP version, crippled with bugs, and now apple has one more thing to worry about in the update release cycle. If someone really wants to s

During my years as a dev i have really started to dislike ORMs. They always fail in the end. SQL is universal, and transfers between languages and tech fields. This is why im pro-sql, and always try to avoid unnecessary abstractions. I have

Deno is a single executable as in you only download one file. Compared to a new python install, it needs all kinds of additional stuff to get up and running.

This works IF you write 100% vanilla javascript. In larger projects a vanilla javascript approach usually falls short. I cant see a large project being written without a types in 2021. So you still need a build step, no matter if you are us

Dollar has been on the decline since Nixon removed the gold standard. The FIAT system is deeply flawed and it looks like money printing is just increasing (see US debt, and issues bonds over the last 40-50 years). This led to crypto like Bi

Thats a total BS claim. I took a quick look at the top 25, and the ones that made the list (top 25) that are PHP based are: - 11: php-ngx-pgsql - 12: workerman-pgsql - 22: workerman - 23: php-ngx-mysql - 25: Swoole Here you see a trend, wor

Mostly because PHP is implemented very poorly. Its used to be really slow (its a little bit better now with newer versions) and it always amazed me, because of its basically a thin wrapper on C. I guess PHPs core types are very inefficient
