Childhood is believing in free software, adulthood is knowing Microsoft was right. What kills open source software is greed, and very few people are immune from that.

Not just not paying off your debts but being proud of it. You want Greece? Thats how you end up Greek. But the evil banks! Try buying a house without them then. But the evil system! You are living in it and you were enjoying the boom times.

All the comments were aimed at the company not the people who work there. Corporations aren't people no matter what the Supreme Court says and they don't have feelings.

Really simple. Humans weren't made to sit on their ass all day. Obesity used to happen to the nobility too. Physical labor is niche now.

The popular opinion is that it was all evil white devils. The historical answer is that African tribes and kingdoms had been trading slaves for thousands of years. It was a nice source of income for them. When England abolished slavery ther

Western countries are desperately trying to keep 1960s and 1970s reactors open for as long as they can because the prospect of building new ones is a financial and political nightmare.

I never understood how a country like Vietnam could afford nuclear powerplants when in Europe costs of building new ones skyrocket to 10 billion euro.

I very much doubt 150k is what most Americans earn. But yeah be rich in America if you can, be poor in Europe if you can't. Although there is more in life than money, when you leave your Silicon Valley gated community you have to look

I love Netflix, I prefer shows being payed for by subs not Burger advertising agencies. Regular cable TV is about the eyeballs- the shows are just a way to get them.

Personal responsibility? I have on occasion ordered things from websites who did not have their security in order. My conscious and informed decision. Although I did not order with a creditcard ofcourse.

The only thing that is pervasive in the US are creditcards and the less said about those the better.

To be fair thats what makes Greece Greece. We could turn Greece, or in fact entire Southern Europe, into a new Denmark/Netherlands/Germany but do the people want to give up their identity and culture? When the ECB sent people to

This is a good point. You can do things with your smartphone in China that not even advanced markets in Europe have figured out. The US tech sector isn't the only player anymore.

I'm not American and the arrogance and cognitive dissonance rubs me the wrong way. You are the CEO of a company not a visionary prophet. People like Musk wouldn't last a week here.

That would imply that there actually IS such a thing. The West is not a monoculture. The political and cultural differences between the Netherlands and the US are as vast as the cultural and political differences between the US and China.

Globally Netflix doesn't have much competition. HBO, Amazon, Hulu etc are America focused while Netflix has done a lot to cater to local markets.

As I understand it Americans buy a lot of food and drink at movie theaters at exorbitant prices without a care in the world. That is were the income comes from.

"If we ignore China it will go away" hasn't worked. I doubt Google can re-enter the market and be successful though. Their local competitors are well entrenched and Google doesn't offer anything new.

I'm seeing a lot of anti Chinese propaganda these days. I come from a small country whose first priority is always the economy so it seems awfully shortsighted. China isn't going to disappear you know. Best learn to get along.

The US hasn't balanced a budget in decades. You would think that during an economic boom they would at least try. I am quite shocked nobody even seems to care- creditcard culture.

China has been around for what? Three thousand years? Its not going anywhere. Even at its lowest point under Mao it still exerted enough influence to counter the Soviet and US political domination of Asia.

China has been a regional superpower in Asia for millennia. Its sheer size alone ensures this. That has nothing to do with the USSR.
