Disclaimer: Pure conjecture. I'd say the TOS have to apply to the "service" you're consuming and not the website itself. Otherwise, what happens if you use just a text based browser? Or any other means not foreseen by th

Who is this trying to stop? People that rip their content? Because those ones certainly have other methods to do it (e.g. record video out). If they're targeting consumers, why do they give a damn if the phone is rooted or not? As long

Actually it is feedback I have from the data guys at work, not HN. And you may be right about that configuration, but I cannot remember the exact details of the discussion. Either way, don't get me wrong. I use MongoDB as well, and am

Could you give us an idea of your workload? From what I've been told MongoDB breaks in really bad and silent ways when under pressure. And I mean "ignore writes without giving out errors" kind of bad.

What I find interesting is that they decided to stick with amazon despite there being a supposedly larger offer from a local group. I wonder if that offer was to try and raise the stakes or they just decided amazon was a better fit for them

Embrace the use of lists and its workflow (think tweetdeck). Side by side lists. I insist on side by side because you don't want one particular list stopping content from other lists to catch your eye. Implement smart/personalized

I think that VR, unless much more advanced (e.g. expand to other senses besides vision and hearing) will have trouble catching on besides gaming and maybe some business applications. And even so, I have my doubts. And I think Google Glass w

I think that AR (think magic leap) is going to be much bigger, at least in the short term. VR is like the desktop. It will have its uses, sure, but you'll be tied to your desk/room. Gaming will probably still be the most popular V

I am based in europe and my experience is basically on international flights. Maybe it doesn't apply in the USA. The flights that didn't have USB outlets were shorter anyway, so the battery would hold.

You kinda have access to USB power on a flight. It should suffice I think.

I think they kind of respect their own franchises, trying hard not to destroy their fame for quality, improving on them only if they have something novel to introduce in the series or a new way to do a particular game, like non-linear dun

I'm especially happy to see the C in CSS go away. Flexbox and the explicit inheritance used in react native makes styling so much nicer.

I guess it's only natural. I don't expect non-technical people to make the same technical choices I do, nor can I recommend them to the general population. I suspect that it's the same with doctors, but their field happens to

A much more productive question would be: Why don't they allow it? They cite performance and security control, and really, can you blame them? The web is quite the wild west nowadays, and the WebViews they provide, while not ideal, cov

Nothing of that. The reason has nothing to do with "startup culture", head in the clouds buzzword crap, quite the opposite. The changes are pushed and working in staging, the tests are passing, Q&A is done. Why hold off? So th
