The biggest reason over Pathogen is automatic installation of your dependent plugins. Biggest reasons over Vundle is parallel downloading, dynamic plugin loading, and static plugins. (all of the reasons for me, YMMV) I've found even th

If the author sees these, I'll also note that I went to a different tab for a while and when I came back, the homepage animation was going at warp speed to catch up to reality.

I've seen this alias floating around git recipes. It doesn't do anything for many of your actions, but I've found it useful: standup = log --pretty=format:'%Cred%h%Creset -%Creset %s %Cgreen(%cD) %C(bold blue)<%an>

Fail at being a grad student? Tons of folks do. Grad degrees have a fairly low success rate and living conditions are certainly one of the reasons people drop out or leave early (the case where the student goes for a PhD and leaves after ge

I'm very curious why you say operator overloading is a requirement. It's certainly nice to look at code with operator overloading when you're trying to understand a problem (or maybe it's a curse when you're trying

As a successfully graduated grad student, I disagree. It is possible, but not at all easy, healthy or sustainable.

You may have picked this up elsewhere in the conversation, but they are waiting on Go to have good cross platform support in the standard library for file change notification. This was originally going to be part of 1.3, but it's been

I can't speak to emacs, but vim has no problems with a program like this operating on the BufWritePre event. I use whitespace trimming and js-beautify that way already. This may or may not do a better job than js-beautify for it. I hav

OpenCDE is also a thing, though it's a bit of a hack in some regards. I quite enjoy running its panel under XFCE, hiding the XFCE stuff. https://github.com/OpenCDE/opencde

Re: warranty clause The FAQ has a section explicitly addressing warranties with a free WTFPL sample snippet to use. You are free to modify your WTFPL, or specify warranty separately. I don't see this as a big issue, but I suppose it co

Just keep using it. You'll get used to them quickly and find that it's really not a big deal. I find that I must use two hands centered on the home row to begin with, so the distance/time needed to cut/copy/paste/undo/etc isn't bad. I remap

While I agree that vintage lacks some refinement, the source for the plugin is sitting in your sublime directory and is fairly easy to hack on. Things like the one-off cursors are fairly easy to fix. I'm not sure what you mean about switchi

Worse than that: from my end on Chrome (beta) running in Ubuntu, the bars appear to stay in their original location when scrolling which makes them cover content and generally bug out. I could not read the article at all!

Are things broken right now? No matter the browser, when I try to upload one of my small PowerDot created presentations (90k), it just pops a banner up that says "Thanks for signing up" and nothing happens.

Are you really arguing that you shouldn't have to study documentation? First, blog posts and code samples are not documentation (in this case, at least). If you were working for me as a developer and had the attitude that you shouldn't have
