I have the same complaint about UX. I sorely miss tiling window managers. I miss configurability of window management. I have baked into my muscle memory the expectation that when I hit the keyboard shortcut to summon virtual desktop numb

I would guess what they've done here is used a high(ish) speed camera out the window of various transit modes, then taken still images of adjacent tiles from the video and stitched them together almost.. almost like motion stabilizatio

yt-dlp also has flags to write subtitle files and .info.json files, which at least Emby can automatically pick up and use, if not Jellyfin. I haven’t yet wired up the bits to use whispercpp to automatically generate subtitles for downloads,

One of my favorite bits of software is Xpra [0], "screen for X". You'd run it and it would start another X server (start apps in it with `DISPLAY=:1 xterm` or whatever), and you would "attach" it to your running X

This reminds me of the vigilante web security scanner sites who scan whatever infrastructure belongs to you, according to whatever sketchy mapping they use, and then publish a "report" with all their "findings". The find

It seems kind of like hard linking but with copy-on-write for the underlying data, so you'll get near-instant file copies and writing into the middle of them will also be near-instant. All of this happens under the covers already if yo

This is interesting, thank you. I've been automating various things with Hammerspoon but (I think) it's limited to what you can reach with either a11y or osascript / the NS dictionary for the app you want to manipulate, but

I’ve been thinking about swapping out my UDMP for opnsense, but keeping the ubiquiti APs, they’re the best I’ve ever known and I think they play reasonably well with non-ubiquiti stuff. Thanks for the link to the guide!
