With, critically, one important difference: it now has two cellular antennas. This way if one loses signal, say, due to being accidentally bridged, the phone switches to the other. This is why the gaps in the metal band are different betwee

There's not really much different between the two quotes. People were pissed because Job's response wasn't an adequate answer to their problem. Apple talks a lot about how "well-engineered" their products are, and yes, the 4 was cool, but

Just to play devil's advocate, but I like this practice. Convention over configuration. Just place the favicon in the root directory of the site, give it an explicit URL if you need one. Of course, many people end up putting an explicit ref

It's a little sad, because there was definitely a sense, a few years ago, that Reddit was pretty much user-centered and therefore fully unrestricted, content-wise. You can choose what subreddits you belong to, or make new ones for whatever

Oops, forgot Skype video was encrypted. Duh. In that case it'd do fine.

What, you don't love charts and graphs fresh from Excel 95? With text so crisp, it could have gone through a brand new fax machine? Edit: Apologies, that wasn't meant to be so snarky.

What's been frustrating for me, historically, is that the dropdown list is different for different parts of Google. For example, compare it at google.com and at gmail.com. I think they're trying to improve it -- looks like in Gmail it l

That was my best guess too, and Skype is also ubiquitous and would be extremely difficult (popularity wise) to censor. But I doubt video data is truly random -- it probably has some structure to it.

I would bold it if I were them. It's a nicely written message, but it reads like a lot of other PR apologies and it's easy to skim over it, deep in its position in the 5th paragraph. Sometimes you need to make actions speak louder than wo

Interesting. Has there been any success in disguising encrypted BitTorrent traffic as another protocol? I guess it'd have to be a protocol whose packets contain a large amount of random data and a large number of connections with different

What I like about using GET (and, to some extent, POST) is that it makes it trivial to test your API in a browser while developing it. Just paste in the URL and you get the raw response, fetch time analysis, and everything else the Chrome d

> ebook: $31.99 > print: $29.99 The fact the ebook costs more than the print book is just laughable. It reminds me of Ticketmaster's "delivery fee" that they charge when you print tickets at home.

Damn, their VPS packages cost less then I'm paying for shared hosting at Dreamhost. Unfortunately, a cursory search shows mixed reviews. Have you used them personally?

"Open the developer tools and paste this into the JavaScript Console" is far less effective as "paste this into your address bar" as far as phishing schemes go. At least, in my experience. YMMV.

I like the idea of teaching a chat bot to run various commands for you. Not only is it faster (one place to go), it probably makes it easier to teach new people the ropes. ("How do we do x?" "Tell Hubot to do it.")
