I get the feeling that Eric doesn't always remember he's in PR and that no prizes are awarded for arguing with the company's critics. He should really stick to simple, upbeat, sympathetic messages. To be honest I'm surprised he didn't lear

Moral defensibility is irrelevant from my perspective. See, I'd like to give game creators my money. Games represent great value and I generally enjoy the prospect of well made sequels. I'm happy to pay, as long as they're not asking me

You're probably right there. But if I'm going to buy a legit copy I'm basically rewarding the publishers for their perfidy.

Not really, because the server isn't serving anything that's integral to the game experience. All of the content is on the machine or loaded into memory at some point in time. The only way this really works is if you're continually releasi

If this completely keeps out all piracy then it's a good move on their part. Sure. And if this gives every member of the development team a magical unicorn they can ride to work it's a good move on their part as well.

Personally, if I'm going to go to the hassle of pirating the game then I don't need a legit copy. Sure, I'd like to support the creators but not if they're only offering to sell me an inferior version of the product.

For one thing parents have been spying on their kids for time immemorial. Also you'll have practically no chance of enforcing a prohibition against parents spying on their own kids.

I love how the guys who come up with this magically assume that it'd be somehow enforceable and wouldn't leave the internet a barren wasteland. And if some countries don’t agree with or don’t pay attention to the agreement, just cut them o

To be honest it's like game manufacturers (Ubisoft in particular) are trying to make piracy the better option. Look guys. I have decent money, want to support creators and don't feel like fucking around trying to pirate a $50 game and maki

To be honest I'm puzzled as to why they'd cut the guy off even if he was guilty. Condemning what someone has done doesn't mean you can't provide a bit of emotional support.

I think they're so many light years ahead of "here's a whole fuckload of text" that it doesn't really matter. And if you're going to have slides which don't have lots of bullet points you need something to give them visual panache.

Self reporting that you are lucky is probably positively correlated with optimism. Optimism has a whole host of benefits that probably account for the "luck" that these individuals are enjoying.
