Thanks! As soon as I saw Niri I wondered if there was a macOS alternative. Aerospace has a similar resizing glitch as PaperWM.spoon: resizing one direction ends up looking wonky if you do it fast enough. It’s noticeable at the end of the sm

Does Effect prevent workers that have uncaught exceptions from crashing the main thread in Node? Does it reduce the amount of memory workers use?

The title "For the 1st time in Canada, surgeons put teeth in patients' eyes to restore sight" is much clearer than "Surgery aims to restore sight by implanting a telescopic lens in a tooth". First, the tooth is put

The website is wacky and the demo video is fascinating. That edge effect? how long it takes to transition? so good

Please don’t take this as criticism of your setup, but why are you trying to stream Blu-ray Disc folders at all? Why not transcode the files?

If you want to “checkout” some previous commit, jj has your back in three ways - first, that commit that’s been merged to main is marked as immutable and, unless you add a flag to say “I know this is immutable and I want to mutate it anyway

You don’t want to airplay from an iPhone or Mac? That’s what I do, using Finamp. I guess it’s a client and not a music server.

I build software that doesn't suck. I'm a strong believer in spending a bit more time to create quality software that's genuinely user-friendly and intuitive. In my next role, I'll help build software that makes life bet

Yes, and I think you can imagine that the software I’m building is neither an e-reader nor is it a platform to purchase ebooks

I’m not sure what world other people live in but Amazon has absolutely nothing to do with my reading ebooks. Not how I buy them, not how I read them. I’ve been building an app specifically to help me manage the ebooks that I own

Yeah Hardcover seems to have a GraphQL API they use for their UI, which they expose. There’s not a lot of extra polish for third party devs — it feels like “this is the API we use, use it or not, things may break”. On the other hand, StoryG

Solidifying my dislike of Goodreads, I got my “year in books” email from them today and the first thing that loaded, at the top of the email, is an ad. For pillow cases. Folks, don’t do that

StoryGraph is an excellent tool and I continue to use it daily. I’ve also found Hardcover.app, which I quite like. It has an API and a slightly more refined UI, but it’s clearly more than one person working on it. Of course, if your focus i

Also, maybe update the "recent issue" to be more recent than 2021! Just subscribed though; I'm looking forward to receiving it wherever I read my emails.

Yeah I’m very interested in this. I’d love to be able to easily create digital representations of handwritten notes, even if that requires me to markup specifically-formatted documents. I love reading paper (and eink) but I hate losing note

On the other hand, while I really enjoyed using Svelte for a side project, I ended up rewriting it back in React. I’ve got years of experience with React and found the Svelte story just wasn’t as refined. Particularly, I was missing support

Interesting — the Firefox team’s response was very negative, but didn’t (in my reading) address use of the API as being part of an otherwise essentially trusted app (as opposed to being an API available to any website). In reading their com

Bookmarks in JJ are closer to tags than branches. They aren’t updated whenever you add new commits on top of the bookmark. If you assign your bookmark to the current commit, yes, and I have done that before. But it’s very easy to not do tha

I’ll have to look at this over the weekend. I’m very excited to see improvements in dev UX in the JS ecosystem. I’d have a very hard time adopting this in prod tho, being so new. Are any large projects using it? Corporation sponsors?

My point is that no matter what you do or wear, you should assume you are invisible and, like you said, ride like every driver is trying to kill you. High viz vests CAN be beneficial. Don’t rely on them.

Anecdotally, anyone who rides will you tell you this. It doesn’t matter how high your high viz vest is, or how loudly you rev your bike, someone will blindly cut you off and not realise you’re there until it’s way too late. I’m glad to see
