Thanks for this (and thanks to 100k, too!) Pretty interesting -- if this goes through it seems like you could experiment with funding models somewhere between normal angel investing and the tiny bites that Kickstarter usually deals in.

On it's face, it sounds like the bill would also remove the accredited investor requirement in <$1m angel rounds. Anyone who understands this thing have a read on whether that is actually so?

Really nice site and cover design. This stuff is so much more credible when it's self-exemplifying.

Yes. The first version of G+ for iPhone was really appallingly bad. In particular, it often blocked the main (UI) thread while waiting for data from the network, so it would hang for seconds at a time. Not doing that is pretty much applicat

Cool post, but I really like this paragraph from his "recovering programmer" page (linked in the sidebar): "Somewhere along the lines, I realized I was looking at everything backward, from an implementation point of view, not from the per

I don't think it worked this way for Levchin, either. It's obvious that they were so excited about what they were making at PayPal. The PalmPilot thing? All that encryption stuff they did early on? They were just in love with what they were

That makes perfect sense, thanks. I'd be surprised to learn that the iPhone 4 was supply constrained over the last several months -- keep in mind that they're still selling the thing. I think it's been in stock pretty much the entire time

Gross margin was down 1.5% over last quarter. Anyone want to guess what lower margin products they sold more of? I'd guess Macbook Airs, but there are certainly other contenders.

We won't see a new OS X naming scheme until there's a major, generational shift in what OS X is, for the same reason that the next phone, as you say, won't be called the iPhone 5. The names wouldn't quite make sense, and a simple and easy t

Being a good investor is basically about "deal flow" and good judgment. Seems like writing for the tech press gives you lots of practice at both.

This is unfortunate. The rush-to-publish tech blogging format strips away almost personality -- it's just incredibly hard to be fast enough and keep anything. MG was one of a very few writers who could handle the pace and maintain a distinc
