I am not a Go user and the language has never appealed to me. On paper, it offers less than more established ecosystems for generalist backend development, such as C# and Java. Perhaps some Go users can weigh in?

Tangential PSA: modern shoes damage people’s feet. Your own toes are likely curled inwards from a lifetime of shoe use. If your regular shoes have arch support, then your arches will likely have atrophied too. A raised heel is bad for your

Yeah it’s remarkable how for its main use case Python … kinda sucks! It feels like R is in decline though.

This is a deeply nihilistic article. The pinnacle of software development is definitely not simple languages and boring technologies. Have we given up?

It’s all about lock in. AWS has a bunch of features that you could implement yourself in an afternoon with a few EC2s, but it’s much easier to click the checkbox. Repeat this across an entire org for a few years and you are deeply coupled t

The body has limits that can be expanded through training. However, exceed the limits and you will be injured. The key is to train up to your limits consistently. Given that most jobs with PA in later life are low pay, I wonder how much nut

I think it’s time to revisit those rules. They were developed in an era where: 1. Very few people had a camera on them at all times 2. Photos would take time and money to develop 3. Sharing a photo across the entire world was basically impo

I deeply disagree with this. With Good Old Fashioned Dev Tools like Zero TurnAround, ReSharper, PyCharm, Clang tools, etc. the tool was specific to the language stack. Esoteric languages would simply not have many tools. All the LLM-based t

The latest LLMs are remarkable, but I think the AI Doomer claims are still a reach. My prediction is that the current AI boom will fizzle out into a handful of useful products and a lot of smoke from VC cash. Where are the moon bases? Supe

You must understand, for your average wealthy SE UK voter, the UK is still a dominant world force, a peer to China and the United States. Brexit was quite popular down there, despite not being the majority. Of course, their worldview is abo
