I've become more and more annoyed with Twitter (the company) and Twitter (the things people are tweeting) and I've been looking for a replacement. I really like the way that the Fediverse has all kinds of different groups/ins

I think it depends entirely on how you spend your money. For example, if you buy a nice bed and get good sleep you are going to be happier. If you can afford healthier, higher quality food you will be happier. If money helps you spend more

I see it differently. I see the classic situation of "post acquisition we serve the needs of our parent company, not necessarily the users". I used to be on a team that used Hipchat. After they got acquired by Atlassian the story

Agreed. I love being able to say "this is the data I want and the shape I want it in" and being able to get exactly that back.

Do you consume the API as well? I'm currently writing the GraphQL API to replace our REST API. It is a lot of work, but when I have to put on my "front-end" hat it will be much easier to work with. I think the biggest payoff

The only thing I really use Twitter for is to get certain updates/notifications. Is there a way to pull my twitter feed into a Mastodon feed? I've done a little looking, but didn't find anything.

Twitter was Rails' worst advertisement. They used Rails as a scapegoat to hide their bad tech. I still hear things like "Rails can't scale; remember Twitter?"

I actually enjoy video games with stories better than movies because I'd rather be the protagonist driving the story, rather than being the passive observer.

That was my first thought too. Time to look into Mastodon again I guess.

I've looked at VS Code a couple of times, but the Ruby support wasn't very good (syntax highlighting didn't even work completely). Is it time to switch or should I stick with Atom?

Hmm, what if you need more than 5 colors? If I had to make a chart with 6 entities I would choose this one instead. For 5-color palettes I would choose http://www.colourlovers.com
