Suppose someone ( cough we cough ) were already working on everything this guy's talking about - would you play it?

This sort of interface problem is common with clocks too. We have a clock at work that signals break time; it has four alarms but you have to manually turn them off. One time I had to be the one to turn it off, and I looked at the back.

This is not a bad idea, unfortunately a lot of sites (especially online applications) check for IE specifically and if you don't have it, take you to a message page that says "this page only displays in IE, go away." You see this a lot usi

His argument could apply equally well to explain that the fragmentation (read: number of) Linux distributions is not such a bad thing either. It is just a sign people have freedom to do what they want, and guess what, when people have free

Wait, wait. What is the appropriate unit of work for programming? Lines of Code? We've been down that road, and it doesn't work well. Especially if you improve the project by deleting unneeded code - did you just do negative work? Featur

Much as there's been confusion about 1024 vs. 1000, creating another set of types like "KiB and MiB" just makes things worse, not better! I really hope the "KiB" ridiculousness goes away eventually.

I wonder how this compares with the Io language, which is also a (partial) descendant of Smalltalk and Self?

Reminds me of how kids were doing drugs in my high school while the principal had a campaign that "we really need to crack down on gum chewing in the halls."

Thanks! I've been looking for a backup tool. Linus Torvalds uses git for Linux. Linus is cool as well as Linux is cool. So is finding unintended uses for things. Therefore, if I use this gibak program, I'll be cool^3. It's simple math.

Oh, it's easy! I just let my classwork suffer. I stay up all night working on our startup project, and sleep through six classes a week. I only take classes with lenient professors who won't flunk me if I do this. But I go to a small un

My evolution (doing C++ development on Linux): 1. First I tried Eclipse. And tried it again, and again. I couldn't figure out how to do the simplest darn things in Eclipse, hated the interface, and it just seemed too complicated to me. 2

Cardboard is under appreciated. It has a favorable strength-weight ratio, is cheap, and easy to work with. That being said: - How long is this furniture going to last? - Why does "design" always have to be synonymous with "ignores good en

The trouble with the C++ paradigm that the implementor of a class does a bit more work so that the user of a class doesn't have to is that it's recursively extra work: I do extra work in a low-level class so it's user can do less - but wai
