Please elaborate on how you define adulthood, and why it’s so different between men and women.

I wrote a server application that runs with about a million goroutines and performs quite well. It's not a webserver, but it responds to "requests" within hundreds of micros. Surely this would not be possible with OS thread

I’d love to work on a tech stack that can be mastered in six months, with just as much understanding as someone who has been around it for five years.

Can you explain why? I agree, but I’d like to be able to justify it as much as possible when arguing for SQL.

It's worth pointing out that property taxes can't really be avoided in practice, cause we all need somewhere to live, and those taxes are filtering down in some form.

I think that's the parent's point: it's not "refactoring" if the external behavior changed. Though I generally agree with the down-voting of the comment as needlessly pedantic, given the common usage of the term.

It's the only generic, centralized, realtime source of news. The key is that the definition of "news" is quite broad.

Agreed. It's unfortunate that Go and Rust are frequently compared to each other, they're not really trying to solve the same problems, they just happened to be modern, hyped, backend languages. I don't blame this post really,

Interesting thought, You should email Matt, I'm sure he would have a response that he would put in his column.

Agreed. He may not be a software engineer or IT professional like many of us are on Hacker News, but he is a true hacker in the way he explores ideas and thinks about the world. It's a pleasure to read him every day.

Where do you put the adapter when you're listening through some other 3.5mm source though? That's what I'm most worried about, as someone who will be buying his first headphone jack free iPhone.
