That's per batch. 5 days x 3 interview tracks x 17 slots per day. Which is why we're usually a bit tired by the end of interviews.

It depends which alumni. A handful are good judges of startups. Most just loyally recommend their friends. Off the top of my head, I'd guess alumni recommendations are a factor in maybe 5-10 of the 255 groups we invite to interviews.

It's not uncommon for services that are growing fast to be overloaded. Twitter is a famous recent example. Empirically it seems to be a predictor of success. Off the top of my head, I can only think of one startup (Friendster) that died

Investors have won? What? Founders have never had more power relative to investors than they do now.

Because whenever a reporter asks investors at Demo Day for a comment, and they ask themselves "what could I say that would be in my interest to have reprinted?" the obvious choice is "prices are coming down." And it's not true, incidentally

YC itself is more about advice than investment. But in answer to your question, no, except for one startup from Imagine K12.

VC's can take much bigger advantage of a 25 year old than a 50 year old This is a persistent myth, but if you examine the math it doesn't work out. A VC firm could improve their returns by at most 2x or 3x by extracting really good terms
