I wish to see more research on stuff like this. I believe I've seen similar studies showing different learning styles were more effective depending on the topic, not the person. In my experience, a lot of learning is a back and forth

I was trying to find the last time I commented on this story (wasn't sure if it was done here or elsewhere). I remember reading an article a few years prior to the Bloomberg story where Apple had talked about photographing their serve

It's been over a decade ago, but I've been without power for about a week after a natural disaster. Most places won't open if they don't have power (just because I didn't have power, didn't mean others were wi

AHA? You mean the ACA? The US pays more for healthcare for a whole host of reasons split between different categories. The ACA only took on a very small aspect. The idea that getting close to 100% coverage means incentives like jacking

I definitely think the frugality can get baked in for a bunch of reasons. Also, I'll often do stuff myself because the "administrative overhead" is worse than just doing it. I had a problem with my oven and called 5 places.

USB is kind of a physical standard. I have a few things like an alarm clock that uses USB, but I feel like the lower build quality is way more obvious than if it just had a wall wart. The problem with calling USB a DC power standard is tha

I wanted to add to your comment. When I've looked to volunteer in the past I've seen places that ask for a 6+ month commitment because bringing someone up to speed sucks up resources (not unlike training a new employee). Other t

I completely agree it's not necessarily a good thing, but from a government overseeing an economy perspective it's desirable. It's something Japan and a lot of other countries are trying to address. Managing population decl

I think those are two separate ideas. I agree we shouldn't have a culture of "farming out" childrearing, but I disagree offering childcare options has to encourage that. I think in any case, we need work environments more s

I do think that is worth noting, but it is (mostly) separate from the original point. It doesn't matter if the copyright is open if the content disappears. At least in the U.S., I don't think it's that relevant to the use-ca

I think it's key you have 4 ports. I think the very small number of ports and requirement of dongles in order to get enough ports (and lack of USB-C hub) perpetuates USB. If you have 1 or 2 USB-C ports odds are you'll need a dong
