This advice is also part of the book "Never split the difference" by Christopher Voss, a highly recommended book for anyone looking to improve their negotiation skills.

Thank you! I enjoyed writing this a lot, but I have to admit that having kilo as the predecessor allowed me to focus exclusively on Rust without having to worry about other things. I hope to find the time to write a different tutorial soon.

I was about to write how there is also a planet trail in Göttingen, Germany - but it turns out that there are a LOT of these trails scattered throughout Germany (List in German only [1]) Back in my youth I did not follow this trail actively

It might be an unpopular opinion, but in my experience a sizable amount of paper maps is just bad. I have more than once regretted buying hiking maps which where missing trails or roads. These will die first (if they haven’t already), and I

As someone frequently interviewing people, I ask these kinds of questions because I am interested in what people perceived as a significant challenge in their career, how they tackled it and how they remember it. THat having said, I would n

I think you might be missing the point a bit. This is not about two people being otherwise equal, and one being given a million dollars. The point is that someone who has a million dollars is in a position where it will be easier for him to

I think reddit is very obvious about it. They only care enough about their mobile website to add huge, impossible to miss „download our app“ callouts and ignore the rest.

The author of the tweet missed the obvious reason for that performance, even though he even mentioned that this is the mobile behavior: They want you to use the app! The button to open/install the app is clearly visible at an early sta

While I agree with you on that, I encourage you to read on. The author does make some interesting points later in the text which are not related to that statement.

Another reason why people are doing this is to protect it from getting "even more lost". An item sitting on the road might be picked up by dogs, kicked away by mistake, or get dirty from people stepping on it. Putting it on the ne

If the team struggles, the org does not need to be changed. However, from my point of view, companies should increase support for their teams when transitioning to agile. Training would be a good start. I have taken a few agile trainings,

There are two arguments against grouping as a deliverable: 1) sprints are (supposed to be) predictable. So you know when to expect something and can plan other activities around that date. 2) (the more important reason IMHO) a sprint enforc

That sounds a bit like a complaint about a specific methodology. None of the items at the top can be found in the agile manifesto, IIRC.

Sprints are less about categorizing the incoming work, but partitioning the outgoing work, to establish a quick feedback loop. This should in theory ensure that risks are tackled early.

You could say the same about vim though... Jokes aside, many resources about agile start with explaining how agile is “easy to understand, difficult to master”, and I think that’s true.

I would even argue that the memory of "the album" is some instance of the Survivorship Bias. We fondly remember the great albums, forgetting the large amounts of bad or average albums from the past.
