The kinetic energy goes to infinity as the speed of a particle approaches the speed of light, so there's no upper bound on the kinetic energy a particle can have in special relativity. The formula you possibly had in mind, mv^2/2, is valid

Yeah, I also like Stevey's blogs. But, as the quoted article exemplifies, he is about as passionate about programming languages as he is about text editors. He will write one blog article about Lisp and Erlang and how they would give you co

I don't see how one can interpret the first paragraph as referring to the Schroedinger equation: "The first way -- which for most physicists today is still the only way -- follows the historical order in which the ideas were discovered. So,

Very few textbooks follow the historical approach as far as I can tell. The author gives a false account of the way Quantum Mechanics is typically taught.

I've never been any good at programming competitions, so to caress my ego I should join the crowd claiming that the results are meaningless. However, my experience is that people who perform well in programming contests tend also to do extr

That's a very nice point and thanks for making it, but based on the empirical evidence I think that you're wrong. There are many very good programmers who don't use syntax highlighting. But I don't know anyone who is not using indentation.

There's one approach to OO databases which is seems interesting to me. It's called SBA (Stack Based Approach) and the corresponding query language is called SBQL. It's been a subject of academic research in Poland for quite a while now, the

Based on my, admittedly quite limited, experience as an interviewer I think the author is mistaken. The type 5 questions, which he praises, are not very useful in practice. "Tell me about your research" is only good as a warm up question, t
