I found a Wikipedia article about the topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superconducting_computing Turns out that some research groups have already built superconducting CPU, albeit tiny ones.

Sure, no problem :) I work in research, so I understand that it is very important to keep in mind the limits imposed by nature itself. Heck, I had more than one argument with idiot bosses who wanted to break the laws of physics or maths...

My understanding is that modern CMOS circuits dissipate around 1 pJ (10^-12) per bit, so even if we are limited by the Landauer's principle, it would still be a 9 orders of magnitude improvement. I would surely love a CPU that uses mic

How long ago was that? I have been living in Japan for almost 5 years, and I usually pump my own gas. It depends on the gas station though, many (usually the small ones) are still full-service only.

I know, I lurk in many subreddits where I rarely post anything, but I enjoy reading them. But still, a flash poll that lasted less than a day and that most people didn't even have the chance to participate in is not very representative

I got a type-A flu this year in early January, and holy shit was it painful, I hadn't been that sick in 25 years. Some co-workers and relatives also got it (in opposite sides of the Earth!) and reported the same, this year the flu was

A few years ago, after my grandparents died, I went to their apartment and took around 2000 photos to run them through OpenMVG and OpenMVS and make a 3D model to remember it forever. This looks way better, I hope one day I have the hardware

Depends on the machine. If you pair a RTX 4090 with a potato CPU then sure, if you go for something more reasonable, not at all. At least you need to consider the CPU, motherboard, and RAM.

If I remember correctly, the 188-byte packets are a result of using ATM AAL-5 frames, each 53-byte frame having 5 bytes of ATM header, 1 byte of AAL-5 framing, and 47 bytes of payload (47x4 = 188).

But the M1 and M2 lines are system-in-package, with the memory soldered on the same package as the CPU, and thus not upgradeable.

The problem is memory bandwidth. The M2 has a bandwidth of 100 GB/s, whereas this RX 7600 has 288 GB/s, and top of the line RX 7900 and RTX 4090 reach almost 1 TB/s. Reaching such speeds with standard DDR5 would require a mas
