Distrowatch is probably the least accurate measurement of usage numbers that exists. The fact that Mint is beating Ubuntu on Distrowatch is a result of a lot of Mint users saying "Hey, let's keep hitting Distrowatch so we make sure we beat

Looks like Home is the home button and End is the lock button. (on Mac fn+left = Home and fn+right = End)

When did it become "terrible"? It has some problems that are a result of being brand new and behind Google's years of experience, but I don't think any of this warrants being "terrible." We saw this criticism of the icon when the beta came

Agreed, the IRC channels were fantastic while I was still working through the levels, but when I joined much closer to the end (the last few hours before it ended), there seemed to be a fair amount of people just asking for code to run, and

And how better to convince Google, Facebook, twitter, etc. to join us on a blackout or at least a "blackout" than by _all_ of us being a part of it and spreading the word as best we can?

Yeah, but at what point does that stop the "power users" who seem to hate Unity from installing Gnome themselves? Hell, I removed Gnome entirely and replaced it with Xfce once. It's still Linux. Just because it comes with Unity preinstalled

> This may not be possible on the next Ubuntu release. What, are they gonna stop making it based on Linux and move to something that can't run Gnome?

So apparently when they say "ONE OS TO RULE THEM ALL" what they really mean is "ONE BRAND NAME TO RULE THEM ALL with a number of non-cross-compatible OS's which have the that brand name and a similar UI"

Whoa, are they replacing _all_ documentation with SO? I figured they meant that this was going to replace the severely less than helpful developer forums and FAQ pages.

How are they infantilizing? I've never had a problem with anyone's ToS. They don't allow nudity, don't post nudity. It's really not that hard not to break them unless they have arbitrary bullshit rules like "YOU CAN'T SAY APPLE ON WEDNESDAY

It was a metaphor. I wasn't exactly saying that it was exactly the same. And yeah, it does warrant thought, but the whole point of this article is that when one site owns all your web apps, if you piss them off, you lose access to all of th

Compared to making or using a Facebook group or even the entire concept of Twitter, nevermind lists, the circles interface is incredibly easy, and even though my mom can barely figure out her Gmail, she could do this in a second. Besides, i

This is like saying you should be a citizen of more than one country, so in case you do something illegal in one, you can always flee to another. Why don't you just not break the ToS?

This guy seems to be missing the entire point of Circles. So you can determine what stuff you post goes out to what people. If I post a link that I don't want my mom to see, I won't include the Family circle in it. That's a pretty high re
