The ms is evil thing is very 90s. It doesn't look so bad compared to say facebook and google who's core business is advertisement. Those will sell your personal information to 3rd parties any chance they get. Ms core business is s

As a developer I noticed lately there is an impressive number of libraries coming from ms. They probably have a hundred libraries just on github and many older ones on codeplex. I hope this new practical money making focus doesn't mean

I'm probably cynical but I dont think the world need more languages. A clean and simple language turns ugly and complex given enough time. The programming world is fragmented enough as it is. I think we need more libraries and tools f

Sounds like he is getting sidelined. He gets a pie in the sky job where he can do less harm to profits ... And the running of the core advertisement business is left to harder men.

Eu is a work in progress. Its end has been announced many times. With every crisis it changes a bit. Organically through pragmatism and consensus. What we end up with is not a thing of beauty but it holds together and works with the help of

And then there are people who like reading and learning about coding more than actually coding. We don't get stuff done because it isn't perfect.

Exactly. If the preprocessor respected file scope or better yet namespace scope it would be much much better. The way it works now there is no encapsulation. preprocessor definition in one library header will inadvertently affect code in o

On the upside. Less companies means fewer platforms and less fragmentation for developers to worry about.

Most all languages have warts. They just look clean and simple when you dont look to closely. This wart though is never seen by users and very rarely by library writers. so it doesn't matter much.

Your second point. That Isis makes much of its money by taxation. Got any source on that? Taxing the local people sounds like a sure way to lose support. As far as I understand Sunni locals support Isis as their militia.

Personally I think in the next 30 years we will be programming with thesame languages popular today. They will evolve to handle multicore better though. With tasks, async, couruoutines, actors, etc. Before too long we will have a mix of tho

I think it depends on the language. As a cpp programmer its easy to find a job. You wont find many web or frontend jobs here. Its mostly backend or stand alone applications.

Yes I read those before. I didn't find them convincing. Intrusive lists is an anti pattern that you can also do in cpp if you want. Getting rid of exceptions doesn't mean you get rid of errors. It just means you can more easily ig

Probably bad wording by me. Cpp vs c has been benchmarked so extensively that it would be big news if C was quicker than Cpp at anything. Cpp is often faster though because of inlining of templates. Finally c is mostly just a subset of cpp.

I cant be sure about Rust, but C++ should at least be as fast as C for any fair benchmark. About the regex example. https://benchmarksgame.alioth.debian.org/u64q/program.php?te... The boost regex library is fast and wi
