The only thing that I worry about is the horrible things people will use AI for.

Mechanical components becoming lines of code improved reliability and performance greatly, but at the cost of massively increasing complexity and making modifications impossible unless you are willing to reverse engineer.

I just bought a 80s pickup truck off Facebook marketplace a few days ago. Couldn't be happier. And probably more reliable than some cheap cars being sold these days.

Those are just vague descriptions of the specific things that bother me. Here is not a great place to go into detail. Some are personal.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I just want to wait it out until the bubble pops or when we are at the next big thing that people obsess over.

Nothing in this world makes me happy anymore. I try to be positive but I see things I love crumble to the ground every day it seems.

What scares me is how people worship AI in general as if it's the second coming or Christ.

I would say the camera market has pretty much stabilized by now. I don't think phones have much more to offer compared to a modern camera. Using a real camera is way more enjoyable and creates a better or same image as iPhone.

This is wishful thinking, but I hope Windows. Especially with the AI and copilot crap, they are giving me more reasons to hate using my computer with every update it seems.

And the app takes several seconds to start up, it's slow, and ends up using more RAM than electron because the user isn't using the native webview as their main browser.

I've always wanted something like https://pingendo.com/ but OSS and would generate much more lightweight sites. I really enjoyed using Pingendo a few years back.

The huge binary size doesn't really bother me, but the a CPU usage does. On my laptop I can't run something like vscode because it kicks the fans on and kills the battery. And as a developer, I hate JavaScript. I'd much rath

I've got a 70s Pioneer Receiver I still use to listen to the radio sometimes. And I use it for audio with my 2008 Samsung TV.

A while ago I compared the memory usage of Electron and Tauri/Webview, and Electron did same if not better in RAM usage.

I just released an update to my open source tool where the binary+dll size was reduced from 33mb to 1.4mb. Feels good to get rid of bloat.

I tried Gio on Android several years ago, and sadly it ran at around 15fps, and the APK was around 50mb I think.

Side note, embedding files for distribution is definitely possible, just takes a little bit of work. I sent in a PR a few months ago to make it possible.

I did a basic C demo where I compared this to Tauri/webview: https://github.com/petabyt/webui-demo I'm not planning to make any apps in HTML/CSS, but if I had to, WebUI would be my choice.

Very different. Tauri directly embeds/links to the web view runtime, and calls the APIs directly to setup the window. WebUI finds a browser installed or already running, and launches it to a localhost server hosting custom content.
