You mean they've been click-bait BuzzFeed-y kind of publication the whole time? :) I was never a Wired subscriber, but a lot of content now seems garbage I used to joyfully consume as a teenager.

Knowledge management isn't a buzzword you should avoid, our team definitely got better because of it (granted, we're a small company). Redmine wiki features are okay for our needs. Any software will do you great service if you hav

Please note that in this case the prepared statement gave the false sense of security, but is not actually responsible for the vulnerability. Due to the statement being prepared, all bound parameters are correctly encoded -- not the paramet

It adds up. One request may produce millions of such strings. Ruby and especially RoR without cheap symbol lookups would be as fast as a dead fish.

If your namespaces are all lowercase after adopting PSR standards, you haven't really adopted the PSR standards.

Not as a call for citation as I have some basic understanding, but I'd like to learn more about why those threats are considered non-existent and why the USA keeps fighting them.

To me the comment didn't sound smug at all -- instead it was sort of an insider joke referring to OpenBSD's philosophy to use only heavily battle tested, rock solid software not unlike CVS.

If it would be that simple, everybody would be running Microsoft Windows. Oh, wait... (It's sarcasm. I think Win8 is actually really nice in some aspects even if inferior to everything else overall.)

Integration comes with a huge price. I'm a beginner sysadmin, and therefore not really knowledgeable about the recent changes in Linux -- however I've seen FreeBSD in production(ish), and it was indeed a more pleasent experience.

For some JavaScript devs is it now trendy to refuse best practices? Glad Crockford wouldn't comply. Buggy code is buggy no matter the formatting. Learn to write future-proof code (or keep it off GitHub.)

I believe you would purchase Qt for the training and support options, and not so much for hiding a couple of DLLs in the deliverables.

Fully typed function signatures form a kind of contract you can program against. Haskell and other extremely strongly typed languages can infer the types of function parameters, yet the community still agrees it is good practice to annotate

Curious to hear more about language-specific (though OS-agnostic!) package management systems. IMO composer is the best thing ever happened to PHP, Ruby gems are huge, Python eggs also make a very useful ecosystem. OpenSUSE's Open Buil

I can't afford it, but even if I could, I would not buy into a walled garden. I'm looking forward to my first Android (cyanogenmod) or Firefox phone. (Probably the former due to their mature ecosystem.)

Wow. I think I'm a decent programmer, but that is some hardcore shit right there. Some of those syntax constructs are really hard to wrap my head around. In a lot of cases `x | f` is more readable than `f(x)` (especially when you want
