I stand by my statements. Is this supposed to be his Github: https://github.com/ElonMusk Is this a joke? I don't see why anyone should respect his opinions as a software engineer.

Alright. I have around 20 years of experience in the industry. As far as levels go I'm between L6 and L7 Google level. I consider anything less than $170k/yr these days to be insulting, regardless of whether they are FAANG or not.

You don't need Facebook to communicate your ideas to others. You don't need AWS either. AWS is actually a backwards development of technology in my opinion because it is anti-open source. It is quite straightforward to lease your

Why in the holy fuck do any of you give a single shit about Musk's opinions on software engineering? He isn't a software engineer. It's astounding to me that anyone considers Musk's opinion about software as having any v

Just look at the salary ranges for the various levels within FAANG companies. See http://levels.fyi In both the Bay Area and Seattle if companies don't at least attempt to get close to these numbers they will not be able to

Having a "home baked server" in no way means it is "janky". There are some pretty clear and correct ways to setup a secure server these days. Using an OS such a RHEL gives some guarantees about auditing for vulns being d

I use "real" in quotes to indicate I am meaning something other than the general meaning of the word "real". What I mean by this is a specific type of DI that I view as effective and a type of meta-programming. Such a DI

The main benefit of constructing objects and tying them together via DI is to allow polymorphic handling of responsibilities. It is more complex than simply "I just make an interface and make everyone agree on that interfere". Eve

By DSL I mean something like how HTML is used to make websites. HTML was derived from SGML, and is related loosely to XML, but does not contain a lot of the complexities of XML. I do not mean JSON, as JSON is not a good generalized meta-pro

The argument for and desire for DI is closely tied to the low code movement. It is tied to configuration as code. It is certainly a different mentality from straight out coding everything. I think it is important and will grow bigger in tim

Agreed, but a common extension does not mean it is required, nor that it should be demanded that an example of making a REST service needs to show how to do it. The example is simply the beginning. It can be extended as needed depending on

I opened the article to begin with to see if it contained some argument for why using the standard library instead of a framework makes sense. It contained no explanation or reasoning to that end. It is purely what it is titled as: An expla

Could someone create a replacement for DNS entirely please? DNS does WAY more than what the typical user needs it for and services that present it are resultantly much more complex than what is needed for the 99% use case. The 99% use case:

The article and programs make an assumption that I disagree with: That there is only one appropriate way to output error messages. This is an absurdity. Both methods are valid. Different people want different things from the error messages.

The purpose of DI is to allow the use of a DSL to instantiate and connect objects, with configuration for those objects embedded into the DSL so that the setup and the way things work can be changed quickly without altering code. Mocking ob
