Off topic from the post, but our office has been giving moustache coffee a go and I've been really liking. This in comparison to our usual picks of Intelligentsia and Ground Works. One thing I'd note though is that the beans are a

Agreed. It's about priorities, if he values his family more than the comfort/luxury/whatever-it-may-be of self-employment then you do what you have to do; not saying it would be easy.

FYI, there are a few problems with getting Cocoapods to work with Xcode's CI. I think there are a few who have managed to find out workarounds, but it requires some tinkering around at the moment. https://github.com/Coc

You can't have a blanket statement saying, fish is/isn't worth it, just as you can't say that with Dvorak or Plan 9. If you spend a majority amount of your time on one or a few machines, it can very well be worth it to c

Battery life is said to increase an hour and the multiple screen monitor functionality has been improved. Nothing that would really change your development drastically. That being said it is a solid release and quite stable, I wouldn't

Overlooking their privacy issues, the app was well done. The experience felt fresh when the app first came out. A few things I thought were particularly neat: the circular menu for posting statuses, the polished timeline, and the drawer (wh

Amazing how backwards the industry is to have to be strong-armed into improving something. Visual voicemail is under appreciated.

Sure, but 20% helps with innovation within Google, give googlers room for to flex their creative muscles, and is attractive to potential hires.

Great job guys. Just created my account and have been messing around with the iPhone app for a few minutes. My first thought, the way you handle selecting multiple photos by swiping is genius.

How close are you to filling your storage? I think the storage issue is aggravated when you're close to filling the SSD up. I have an 8GB that was unusably slow, while a friends 32GB never had any problems.

Are there any alternative mail services that provide push notifications? I've tried switching over to the Gmail app for a week and found it to be quite buggy. Badge counts would not be updated properly, emails would sometimes not load

If you're going to start lobbing moral accusations on the worthlessness of work that doesn't have any direct moral implications, you have a lot of posts on HN to go through. ;)

Given the team that made it (i.e. John Gruber, Brent Simmons, Dave Wiskus), I probably wouldn't expect one any time soon. Not merely referring to their personal preferences, with only one developer on their team I can't imagine they have mu

Just to share another alternative: http://feedbin.me/ It has support for Silvio Rizzi's Reeder already, or rather Reeder has support for it. Looks promising, though I haven't tried it out.

Assuming you can automate the task completely, you'd get the added value of not having the context switch to and from that task. That alone would might be reason enough to automate something, even if you lose time over it.

Agreed, I rarely have any problems with it. I'd be curious to know what people think the rough edges are with Sublime 2. Maybe I'm not using all its features, but seems stable enough for my (heavy) use.

I'm interested to see what uses people come up with for ADN's storage. If there are some neat uses, that could be a great incentive. I don't disagree with the limit providing a great incentive to go paid, but when a free user joins, there i

It's not uncommon; Visual Studio's release cycle is around every two years. To work out the math a bit, say the developer is looking to make 70k a year (which is quite low IMO, especially if you are self employed). If his release cycle is e
