Digital distribution shouldn't eliminate record labels; it should just revalue their services. Whereas before record labels were absolutely necessary for bands to make it big (hence the usurious contracts of the old days), now labels are (o

How easy is it to get an O-1 visa? I always just assumed it was out of my range, but if it's just "speak at a few conferences", I could probably swing that. Anyone have experience with this?

I took a quick look, and I don't see anything that stands out. Assets are mostly cached properly, nothing is excessively large, gzip is on, etc. You've been getting a bit over 4 requests per second for the past three hours, plus some more b

That's great advice to give your kids, but you should also be teaching them by example that it's never too late to make a change! If you really want to work for one of those companies, don't wait for a headhunter to contact you! Fix up your

Isn't this flawed in that it ignores Bayes' theorem? The "object was a UFO" conclusion from the video is a good example of this. As compelling as the evidence is for that hypothesis, it's still virtually certain to be untrue.

Can you expand on why closures are the greatest thing ever? I've heard this from a few places, but I've only run into a handful of real-life situations where they were the perfect solution to a problem I was having. And even then, they were

Would you mind giving more details on this? I don't understand how it would be possible for a human to do this with n > 1kish, and even then I would imagine it being horribly slow.

How valuable are these non-vanilla terms to investors? Presumably you can get anyone to commit to vanilla terms for the right price. Then it's just a question of making big investors care less about these terms (e.g. by repeatedly demonstra

First, congratulations! I'm curious how you are setting up a company in the United States if you or one of your co-founders is from Germany? I've been trying to figure out the whole startup-as-a-foreigner thing (I'm Canadian), and so far I
