Fun fact: I'd you go around older and we'll maintained European cities you'll see little holes with metal bars next to most front doors. Those were to scrape your shoes clean of all the street dirt (mainly horse products) bef

I think most or all have English classes in school, but in addition to the drop-out/absenteeism even those that attend these classes often don't end up learning much of the language itself as the teachers either have little traini

While I very much agree with most of your points I think you have to be careful not to assume malicious intent. Very likely most of the decision makers on the other side are very much thinking they are making the best decisions for their co

It's complex and a calculation that you have to do carefully. To start at the most obvious point: what is the subsidy subsidising? The largest cost item of a coal power plant is in building it and the matching infrastructure, then cost

Indeed, the tech world seems to be full of people totally oblivious to branding - anything that's short and snappy and sounds vaguely familiar is 'great', no matter the real world or rest of the world. Actually Google seems t

My local tea shop tells me it's easy to get near caffeine-free tea: as caffeine goes quickly into the water you simply pour water once, let it sit for 3-10 seconds and then throw the water out and pour fresh water on the leaves. I'

But RT openly lies and misleads. So it's not a narrative you can actually consider useful. Chinese propaganda is a bit more honest but omits a lot and is focused on diverting/misleading on key policy issues, see Uighur camps
