I wonder where that douchebaggery culture among employers comes from.

This is obviously awesome. Could you share how much time approximately did it take you to make this?

Well, that may improve in the future. The main property of inventions is that they are often completely unexpected. Maybe there is a wireless way. Maybe it will be compulsory to have a DBI (direct brain interface) connector in your skull in

Actually, the direct brain interface and AI are kind of orthogonal. There may be a direct brain interface that would allow to replace mouse and touch interaction, for example, so the interaction method would be purely mechanical in this cas

Another possibility is the new, more efficient, ways to interact with your computer. Direct brain interface maybe. Pretending that your computer is a human is actually NOT an efficient way of communicating with it. Moreover, it is unreliabl

Maybe, you just do not want to work. Actually, it is the most natural desire for the human as it is for animals from which we have evolved - to not want to do anything when you do not have the urge. Animals can look very busy, but if you ch

I also dislike the very term 'unemployed' because it is meaningless and derogatory. If I have some savings and want to work on my own projects for a year, I am what - unemployed? They want to view people as some sort of robots wit

asm.js + WebGL allow to completely skip the web stack making the browser just another platform of execution. Strangely or not, C/C++ strike back.

Well, if that works for you, then kudos. Personally I am skeptical of self-organizing teams because I have had strictly negative experiences with them as a developer. It seems that having a self-organizing team of evenly qualified and exper

Nah, "impress and influence" should be a super-rare thing for actually organizing a team. Individuals can be impressed by one another, but in software development everybody has their own strong opinion on what is good and what is

I would say that passing interviews is a separate skill, different than doing actual work. They are not completely different, of course, but different. This implies that the irrelevance is pretty high, otherwise you would not need to prep

This is probably the normal animal/human reaction: to react only when something is hurting you right now. If you take the pain away, the motivation vapors. This is one of the design flaws of the human mind inherited from animals that c

Yes, I agree that this is a peculiar case and it is worth reading and keeping in mind that such things can happen. I am just saying that I think it would be more correct to consider this as a 9-fold performance increase gained from cachin

Frankly, the problem described is not a problem at all, as it would be weird to rely on cache hits to ensure performance of linked lists. Cache misses are an expected drawback of linked lists, as they have other advantages.
