It is secure against man in the middle attacks, but still if the password database is leaked, then the pain text passwords are most likely also leaked and you have to tell your users to change their password everywhere where they have used

For me, a big benefit is the tooling support. If the API is statically typed, I can easily find the headers I am able to set using my IDE. And for setting the date I don't have to check the http spec for which syntax I have to use for

I think most Unix commands have a function type which is not representable in haskell, if you don't want to fall back to strings everywhere. So you end up with many functions like ls and ls'. For a shell I prefer a dynamically typ

I don't see how the Haskell example is more type safe than the Python example. In Haskell you will get None or Just a String. In Python you get an exception or a String. For me that is equivalent, but maybe you have a different definit

Having IDE support is a feature of a language. You have to design your language so that IDE support is possible [1]. Most dynamically typed languages and functional languages fail in this regard and if you use such a language you always are

I always assume that initially there are q voters who gave the average rating. This yields the following formula: (p n) / (n+q) This is simpler and gives similar results: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=plot+%28p+%2B+z^2%2F2n+... ht

The real problem is, that the US has no real democracy. When the government did something similar to SOPA in Germany, the "Piraten Partei" got more votes and the bigger parties rethought their plans because of this. But small parties do no
