So this is what "3.403 Text File" says: A file that contains characters organized into zero or more lines [so characters with no newlines are OK] No NUL, and lines (delimited by and including newline) not exceeding LINE_MAX bytes

How about a null-byte then? That's not a newline character, but all POSIX tools will treat it as EOF.

The issue I am aware of is with the Thai language that has zero-length unicode codepoints that get superimposed on the preceding non-zero-length unicode codepoint preceding it (or if none is present, an 'empty' non-zero-length pla

From reading the above, if you have a folder 'dir' and a file 'dir/file', after renaming 'dir' to 'folder', you would just have 'folder' and 'dir/file'.

I view PDF more as a vector format (that is also able to use raster-based images). The vector (zoomability) properties of PDFs are important to me.

I recently used Shotcut and it did crash a few times, but both times it still had my changes after reopening. Not being used to the concepts of video editing, I found it easy to find a workflow that worked for me (cutting out mistakes and s

You could indeed (temp-)ban them based on logs. Of course it is a huge improvement, if you catch offending IPs early, they never hit any app.

Same for V (vlang), even more inspired by Go, they actually intentionally stick to Go syntax as much as they can to help people transition.

I know it's hugely unpopular with some of the HN crowd, but V (vlang) is definitely a worthy competitor in this space. I tried Nim, Zig, etc. but liked Odin (in spite of some oddities in syntax and usage). Now I've moved over to V
