I just learned that I can enable full text search on the server on Dovecot through Xapian, which is now indexing..!

Nothing wrong with making money on your work, and if you work on open source, even better I think. I have been spending hours a week for decades working on FOSS, never got paid, so yes, that was (and still is) intentional charity.

Stallman was propagating the ideal of Free and Open Source Software, where the notion of Freedom was paramount. I think that is the Free the poster you are responding to was talking about, not as in Freeware (usable without paying, but not

Actually, that is what I would like, but if I use Thunderbird on my Maildirs (served by Dovecot), the search (particularly in the mail body) is not really feasible. Perhaps there is a search integration for Dovecot that I am not aware of??

What I would like is an app that I can let loose on my Maildir directory and indexes and allows search. It doesn't need to receive mails or download (or send) them.

Of course it's big enough. Why would it not be big enough??

If I go to https://mephistomail.site/ on Firefox, I can't scroll at all. If I zoom out, I see there is more to the page, but it's too small to read then. Can you implement/allow scrolling??

Depending on the particular apt repo to be ready and have what you need would be so much more of a nightmare!

Running production on non-LTS Ubuntu would be insane (unless it was a very short-term deployment on a more modern system).

They hadn't implemented the `-r` flag of `date`... But worse than that, they didn't squeek on the unimplemented flag (because the interface was already accepting it...). This is an incompetent implementer (and project management?)

Fastmail's killer feature is JMAP, and there are not so many GUI clients for that. Yes, you can use IMAP, but that's just much slower.

I guess you can do that. I have my Thunderbird open 24/7 for days on end. It does seem to occupy 700MB of RAM after a while. Firefox is way worse of course... I keep Signal desktop open too, sits around 160MB.

Once Thunderbird supports JMAP, then we should be there.

Very hard to find out how to even get a `juliac` binary unfortunately...

I was looking to try something like this (without the nushell...), but I find that I always have caddy installed anyway, and for the really local cases I use php -S.

I will personally never want to install uvx or npx. Another suggestion is to enable cargo-binstall, it allows just to install cargo binaries conveniently, and cargo-binstall is just a single-binary to install itself.

It would be nice if you can click on the piece you'd like to move, and then click on the square you'd like to move it too. Currently there seems to be some selecting and then dragging involved..?

Running an smtp server to receive mail is supereasy as long as you have inbound port 25. Or you can run a submission service that requires submitters to login, usually on port 587/465. If you want to send from your server, that is way

Digital as opposed to analog..? Or does every adult need to have a smartphone on them all the time?? I think most countries legally require adults to be able to identify themselves with government-issued ID. Is this so novel for the UK? But

Even just having access to all the files that the user has access to is really too much.
