He has wife and kids?! I mean, if I was his kid, I'd appreciate it if there was enough there for me to not have to take out loans for college. edit: ok apparently he doesn't

This. Really impressive. I am wondering more specifically what life experiences caused them to do this -- I assume they were not always like this and more likely an event triggered this less than sane behavior.

I would be more comfortable believing most of the world would rather be playing video games than working 8 hours a day for someone else (other than for their immediate family of course). But I may be too naive!

Giving money to your low income parents so they can retire early I can understand. I do that. But that's not what that guy is doing. He gave away everything (except $3k with a $300k income)! That's like a month's rent in the

Do you mind explaining why you do this? Genuinely curious. My POV: Time is money. I'd rather spend my time playing video games instead of wage-slaving. I pay enough taxes.

Also wondering. Does a headphone like that even exist? A BT headphone that can stream from 2 sources at the same time, mix the audio streams together, have the controls play/pause both sources at the same time, only use voice assistant

I wound up at Caltech by pure luck too. Walked there from PCC, which I went to for 2 years (I didn't attend Caltech).

My guess is it stops mattering the further civilizations stray from Earth. You'd more likely to be treated as an Earthling or Martian or whatever once you zoom out.

Agree. Grid is great for 2D layouts especially if you're going to shift stuff around (e.g. responsive versions of the layout). With Flexbox, you can sorta do it but it always feels way too hard, even if your layout is convenient enough

It'd just reach some equilibrium. In your scenario, American workers will eventually just accept lower pay (we're overpaid already anyways). Why should someone hire entry/mid level engineer in Canada, if they can hire at same

Putting your data on Google/FB/Twitter is still for the most part opt-in and not clearly linked to your real identity. Can't say that about a government enforced Social Credit System.

It's a bit dramatic. Most large companies still eat the 30% and launch on Google Play Store anyways, even with alternative app stores or just shipping .apk files. I don't know why, but my guess is updates. They've probably do

Why don't they though? Just fork Android and ask Asus or whatever to launch a phone with that OS preinstalled with the Epic App Store as the default app store. Like Amazon Fire OS.
