That's really interesting, thanks. Isn't it possible to fix the stutter by transforming the video into 60fps exactly with frame interpolation? Wouldn't that simulate what an old CRT would end up doing and look better? Or mayb

That will heavily depend on if the extra primary actually allows you to sample something significantly different from the other three or just gives you more color differentiation. My understanding was that human tetrachromats had their extr

Why does the frame rate differ after deinterlacing? Isn't interlaced TV 50 or 60 half frames per second?

I don't think there's any need to go to four primaries. If you keep just RGB but have more bits per channel you can widen the color space without getting banding while also representing many more colors. You just move the RGB prim

How does the problem go away? If you can prove your thesis then even though you can't exploit the determinism you've proven that you can't influence the future. Doesn't that mean that free will doesn't exit and is t

I don't think the home experience is already fully competitive without spending a lot. Just that the theater experience has enough inconveniences that it's getting close. For things like very wide/large formats and immersion

I've stopped going to theaters because the sound is often unbearably loud for me. These days a projector and sound system for use at home are quite affordable. A white wall at night works great for projection too, so you don't nee

I've seen that in other contexts as well. Like slide presentations reflowing paragraph text when a word gets bolded. It's definitely a useful feature to be able to guarantee that never happens.

The Innovator's Dilemma covers that too though. It's usually the case that the incumbent does invent the disruptive technology. Actually selling it in scale ends up not happening and often the eventual winner is actually formed by

The Extreme looks great on paper but I'm not sure I want to go up to that size of laptop. I'd have to handle it to figure out. Nvidia graphics make it a non-starter for me right now though.

GNOME experiences are very mixed for some reason. In my T460s with a 1440p screen GNOME was too slow. After tweaking all sorts of things I just switched to a tiling WM (sway). Part of that is software but there are plenty of things where yo

What can you actually replace on the X395 that you can't on the X1? RAM is now soldered and that used to be the only difference from what I remember. I currently have the T460s and like the size. The T495s would be the equivalent but l

If the kernel itself doesn't boot, installing the microcode package may not help. It only helps if the problem only occurs after the point at which the kernel loads the microcode. Hopefully that's early enough for most cases.
