Not to mention the use of bokken (wooden sword), which I believe is still issued to LAPD mounted units for crowd control. Or jo, which I reckon would be pretty hard for your average UFC to defend against. I mean, I get a nice whooshing soun

This depends a lot on the lineage. Most dojos won’t remotely throw a new person until they are sure the new person can take good ukemi. I came to my current aikido dojo from a background in judo and jujitsu. I already had pretty solid ukemi

Have done judo, and it’s just as fictitious. It just operates by a different contrived set of rules. And yes, of course aikido is choreographed. That choreography is hard as hell. On the other hand I’m pretty fearless about getting thrown.

All martial arts are fantasy. Is BJJ not fantasy? Give me my aikido-whackin’-sticks and I’ll reckon I could bludgeon most any BJJ practitioner within an inch of his / her life. Is judo not fantasy? What good is your throw when someone

Jake and company are doing nice work here. By comparison to the R community, I feel that the Python community sometimes swashbuckles toward new libraries without always doing a good review of prior art. Not so in this case. Vega / Vega

Yes, I’d forward emails until you can get everyone trained over to using your new email address. I’ve done that in the past with mostly inactive emails that I got through professional or academic associations. Presumably Gmail still makes a

You might also consider registering a vanity domain to go with your Fastmail (or other) subscription. It’ll allow you to keep your email address even if Fastmail gets evil / bad in the future. When I bought my domain, it was before Gma

I do still have the account with Google due to having used Google SSO with a few 3rd party services. I've thought about murdering those / changing my sign-in so I could get rid of that account, however.

This is the grand problem with email. At least two standards exist: PGP & SMIME But... those aren’t particularly friendly and thus aren’t widely used. The main usability issue is a fundamental one, namely that management of crypto keys
