What happens with these driverless cars at four way stop signs? With humans, generally someone waves to the other driver signaling either to take right of way or that they will go first. I presume the car doesn't understand hand gestu

Uber spends a ton of money on three areas: R&D, new customer and driver acquisition (including marketing too), and legal/lobbying. These areas may taper down in growth in the future, but it's unlikely to shrink. Also there is

Agreed, considering this was a major rewrite of the core compiler in converting for C to Go, I don't understand why they rushed from release candidate (August 6) to release (August 20) in 2 weeks. I'm all for schedules, but in th

I use Emacs in full screen mode on OSX. Then I split into usually 3 or 4 panes and launch a terminal in one of them. Then I have a todo list in another and the code I'm editing in another. Works great for my use.

I ran a quick year-over-year comparison on your data, for Jan 2015 -- June 2015 (compared to Jan 2014 -- June 2014), and the average reduction is -7.8% of revenue and -9.7% of trips. IMO, that's quite significant for a 1 year drop.

The problem I have with brokers and realtors is that they should charge either a flat hourly rate or a transaction rate. Lawyers, consultants, and software developers virtually all work on that model. But brokers and realtors have conditio

Are there command-line apps for these rain and white noise generators? I'd love to use them without internet access and outside a browser. Edit: I see discardorama asked the same question.

Lots of these lessons are missing the bigger point. The original investor rejections had it right on the business model, except missed the determination of the founders. Sleeping on airbeds and having hosts serve breakfast is a niche mark

Even though you are cherry picking a peak value, I don't follow your logic. $100 worth of gold bought at $850/ounce buys 0.117 ounces of gold. Today that gold (at $1181/ounce) is worth $138.90. Your cash is worth $100.

The difference is that in parsers, errors are almost certainly fatal. As opposed to a runtime SQL error, where it could be a user error, value error, or other database error, which can be recovered from. Panic/recover are usually mean

As the Alex cartoon posted by mauricemir points out, the majority of companies doing stock buybacks are not doing it from profits. They are taking on additional debt through bonds to buy their own stock. This may look good in the short ter
