For coal in the USA the stated cost for MWh in 2010 was $41. The external cost was $58. This does not include for implicit and explicit subsidies. Including those would make the external costs higher. The numbers change by country, time,

It was less about technical factors relating to stealth than human factors. The USAF reused the route packages and the shooters knew the approximate location and timing of the flight. A Serbian asset tipped off the shooters that the normal

Absolutely. In addition all carriers use multi-lateration and sectorization to fine tune location. The better the location the more valuable it is for commercial resale and CALEA sales. Notice that all of this is entirely legal, above boa

Our strategy was to engage from the rear and use MK48 to pop the shaft seals. In retrospect, the time to penetrate the bastions meant that the show was over by the time we could engage. The MK50 was meant to defeat the Soviet hulls, again

Yes, there are lots. Largest of which is that the manufacturers have to balance onerous return penalties vs. weight and size. The solution is to use a monocoque and glue everything down. Thus, consumers buy the cheapest plans, carriers push

Back when I was playing the game the Moskit and its derivatives made the CIWS obsolete. The short engagement range meant that the debris of the threat would impact and mission kill. The larger 30mm and RAM were created to extend that range

This is exactly correct. I helped create the system used by US telcos to track users. We had GPS precision tracking on all users and used big data to geolocate that data against other users, retail establishments, and road locations. Thi

Yeah, the F-35 is actually milled down during/after assembly for low observables. However, the Mig-21 can hit the same speeds as the XB-1 and it has panel gaps visible from several meters. I did some reading and the XB-1 does use hydr

I'm surprised by the assembly tolerances. .05-.1" The F-35 is assembled to .003" The usage of control cables and pulleys is odd. I would have expected hydraulic/electric actuation in a Mach 2+ aircraft.
