Yeah lets just give people a fuckload of sugar and carbs right before bed, and then presumably ignore them when they complain about waking up prematurely and being unable to go back to sleep.

Is tab-typing vi /etc/nginx/nginx.conf by hand really that much extra effort? Or, for this specific example, remember standard config file convention?

Yeah, it's pathetic. Still... you don't need MOST people. You need ONE, with a blog or a youtube account. And it took how long?

Unbelievable, I can't understand how people haven't noticed that. "Wow I crop an image and it doesnt get smaller WTF???" Man if I ran Windows 11 to think I might be the one who stumbled on this 0-day first....

There's a lot of things that reasoning about requires getting into someone else's headspace. If that is problematic you may want to look into your empathy skills, 'getting into someone else's headspace' is a crucial

I have CD-Rs that I burned 20 years ago that are still readable. I would say this is the majority of disks. I have a box of thumb drives that are between 10 and 20 years old... less than half of them even register, let alone read anything.

Because it was the one area I was familiar with. The others... not so much. But if I was in classes contemporary to the test and had paid attention, I probably would have.

Why do we need this stupid metric of "will I ever use this"? That is a recipe for ignorance. You will never be able to handle novel circumstances if you limit your knowledge to shit you think you will need.

Personally I think it is because it has terrible performance. Scenes that Unreal seems to be able to render at full frame rates run at a fraction of that in Unity. Even its vaunted 2D system is slow as balls... load times for Graveyard Keep

Are you kidding? I bet a ton of us go to raves or undergrounds or festivals, Burning Man has been pretty much taken over by SV tech dweebs, and I meet tons of tech folks in the local scene here, and that scene is just a tiny fraction of the

I DJ in the local techno underground and produce it as a hobby, music is a very active and deliberate activity for me. That there are so many different ways to engage with it is part of why I don't lump it in the same bucket as TV.

How does having a working knowledge of concepts like files, or using a command prompt, equate with having to learn the guts all the way down to Maxwell's equations? Much of the scenarios this dude mentions are table-stakes in the grand

Music consumption itself is passive, but we frequently use it as a backdrop to do other things. Or we dance to it. I would like to think that the curation of playlists or mp3 libraries is considerably more involved than doing so with videos
