Another thing to consider: A 3d fingerprint of a space can be created with live photos. I'm sure object recognition benefits from the small perspective changes as well.

What if it's not audio processing real time? Some voice codecs get their rate down to 2-3kbps. Maybe it could store and forward with content loads without raising flags? Just spit balling here.

eBay: The failed motherboards for instance will probably find new life from people selling their broken boards for $75, then component level repair shops can use the schematics to fix and then resell for $300+. People do this with macbooks

About as old as my daily laptops :) All things considered, my mid 2000's scion gets 30mpg and I barely use it in the summer. Great car, fits lots of stuff in the back and the 100mm X 4 bolt pattern gets me a cheap wheel platform to swa

Nice! I had to migrate a project using VB6 because I couldn't call an API year back that needed TLS 1.2. Super cool to see this amazing tool getting love in 2023!

I agree, let them try this and see what happens. Can't be worse than Solar Freaking Roadways.

Think F-Zero IRL. I wonder how many kW can be transferred real time and if there's speed limits.

I'm sure there's a way to fix that via process change right? How much does it spew vs. all the plastic we put in the sun everyday getting bombarded by UV? Kinda curious now.

That performance per TDP of that 8C chip is unreal. Congrats to framework for doing the right and coolest thing. I am fanatical about what this company is doing.

No, they come through our shop and still fully patched, glitch out in the most ridiculous ways related to start menu, search, etc. Also not very happy about all the ewaste this is going to create, our customers were fine with the performanc

You have to have a gas backup in cold climates. You can't just dump NG. -22F is the limit for useful heat production from a heat pump.

Pro tip: Most Wall AC Adapters will operate at 48V. This has been used by the ebike community for a while to power lights and accessories. I use an 120VAC molex hdd ac adapter to get 12V and 5VDC out of 48V batteries.

Lighting is a good example though. I believe under best case conditions you could get the battery and panels to last over 25 years if we reimagine their duty cycles and installation parameters. It will probably be someone that reads HN to b

It's usually someone you know that does this for you. I've put 10.14 on some 27" iMacs from 2009 that have been rock solid for those I gave them too.

These machines are very low power consumption (Can idle in the 5W area) and are built to last. I would not hesitate to buy 2 for a redundant server setup.

Perhaps this patenting creating a chilling effect? These patent seekers are almost like domain squatters, not adding value but wants to own an idea without actually producing a sizable market themselves.

Making "hardware" is cool. It allows expression on many levels. It can be very fulfilling especially when other people buy it. IMO: "buy it for life" is a cool product category to play in.
