Just looked through a few -- these presentations are excellent. I'd recommend them to anyone looking to learn iPhone development. (Not too surprising. Both lecturers work on iPhone development at Apple, and Paul Marcos has been teaching Coc

does the app update the database regularly? The Wikipedia guys release new dumps quite infrequently (every few months), so there isn't an incremental dump update mechanism - the changeset would simply be too big to make it worthwhile. an

error_intr is meaningful, but it's defined as the value of EINTR, which can never be zero -- so this is a bug.

You're right that this could theoretically be the intent -- but it's very unlikely that it's necessary: "The value of errno is zero at program startup" - ISO/IEC 9899:TC2. If EINTR was 0, there'd be no way of detecting it.

If the writing is good, it will stand on its own. Indeed -- and if this were, say, a fiction contest, it would be a great way to do things. But when someone is giving advice, the identity of the advisor (and the success they've had by fol

"Maths" is the standard term outside of North America, as far as I know. I'm Irish, and "math" has always sounded odd. It seems that "maths" is the semantically correct option. To take your quote, "do the math" expands to "do the mathematic

After looking through the News.YC source, it seems that almost every single closure that's created on the fly refers to one of the above types. (I think you could exclude conses, too, to make it even simpler.)

You might have a workable compromise if you cheat and only serialize the portion of the closure's environment that refers to some simplified set of types. A way of serializing closures such that they kept bindings to symbols, numbers, strin

Note how a friend of MagLev devs points out that it's "up to 60x", which technically could mean anything including "60x for one specific case and 1x for the rest of them" No; you're intentionally distorting things. "Up to 60x" is a quote

No. The server stores salted hashes, and serves the salt and a nonce as part of the login page. The client then submits hash(nonce + hash(salt + pass)). This protects against both replay and rainbow attacks.
