Many people have a book they read in their teens that changed their outlook. For some it's 1984. For me it was Greene's "The Power and the Glory". It, and the questions it raised, are still with me. Monsignor Quixote I c

I had chkdsk stop my Windows 10 system from booting 2 weeks ago - so I guess that was a different issue. After an evening of trying to fix it, I restored from a backup. Thank $deity for Macrium Reflect and nightly disk imaging.

Will any of these work with LIDAR data under their 3D rendering? I'm keen on industrial archaeology and it's really helpful to have 3D visualisations of sites like old quarries. Stand-alone 3D models can be done like [1] and the d

Does anyone know of a downloader that works for private Facebook Groups? I'm a member of some local history groups and the material posted is amazing. I'd like to refer to it in the future, likely long after the posters are gone.

Thanks for asking! Join the php.internals mailing list. The join feature is _really_ unreliable, so that's hurdle number 1. Put up with the rudeness and insults on the list. This has got better in the (checks diary) last _7 months_. I

The PHP project is severely underresourced. One or 2 core devs are sponsored by their employer to work on the project; everyone else is volunteering, and the pool of people isn't as large as it once was. And that's for developing

Why would you have any of this tightly coupled to your model? Set up a separate API gateway, which covers all your points (REST endpoints, monitoring, security) - there's plenty of off-the-shelf options. Route authenticated requests to
