Much of these costs will be "built in" to the price per square foot. Land in Wyoming is cheap precisely BECAUSE it is empty and shopper-free - it has lower profit potential. No one will pay $10k/sq ft for space in Wyoming bec

Square footage is a pretty dumb metric. square footage of the US >> square footage of Japan, Switzerland, UK, etc. We have more room, and it's much cheaper - of course we use more of it. Normalize square footage by some reasonab

It's not clear to me how charging upfront tells me anything about their business model. In fact the wording here even make me wonder if they plan to eventually sell my data in ADDITION to charging me money. The business model may not i

For an end-user license, sure. But even so the license restrictions only apply to the _recipients_. So if I'm the NSA and use GPL code, and only distribute it to NSA colleagues, I only have to provide my NSA colleagues with the license

If the code is never put into a public project I don't see how this would have any effect. I'm not required to abide by every license on everything I slap together on my laptop, it's when I distribute it or allow others (outs

I'm not sure why this is necessary. It's a very light wrapper around existing SQL functions that adds additional dependencies and makes it more difficult for developers who already know SQL. Maybe the use case is for installable p

Someone at Waze should get on this. Send a small notification to Waze users that there's a jam ahead, and to slow down by 10mph to help alleviate it! It's a simple solution and might even work since Waze users are already a "

I've definitely noticed the same shift. I've been on couchsurfing since Sept 2006, hosting folks a number of times, and then surfing and meeting up with folks a few times on travels to Europe. FWIW, I've never done a big &quo

Its simple really, I've disabled Facebook notifications on my phone, so I only see them when I open Facebook myself. Second, my phone (and many others) has a do not disturb feature I use to silence all sounds while I am sleeping. Tech has m

> Facebook rejects ad that uses Zuckerberg's photo to further its goals, without Zuck's consent. FTFY. They'd do it even if Candy Crush used his photo. This is not newsworthy.

Given mcintyre1994's comment, I think this still explains the same situation. People with single-digit friends are simply people who have friends blocked to apps but have multiple friends who've donated data.

How much of the friends with zero friends is simply because that information is blocked? If my friends "donated" their data, I would show as having 0 friends if I've blocked that information to apps.

This is dumb. Show me pageviews and I'll show you a lot more "non-social login" people. I bet there are just as many (if not more) people spending the same amount of time on site as those logged in via social accounts. You've just got milli
